The Will-Burt Company Introduces Night Scan Powerlite® 2.3 at FDIC
Powerlite 2.3 uses less energy and does not require generator
April 14, 2015

The Will-Burt Company, the world’s leading manufacturer of light towers, will introduce the Night Scan Powerlite® 2.3 mobile light tower at this year’s FDIC exhibition April 23 – 25. The product’s debut will be in Indianapolis, Indiana at the convention center in booth 4631.
The quest to conserve energy and natural resources touches every facet of our lives and the Fire Apparatus Industry is no exception. The introduction of advanced LED lighting and high efficiency engines has helped to make today’s equipment more efficient than ever. Will-Burt operates under an ISO 14001:2004 certified Environmental Management System and is keenly aware of the responsibility we have as a company to be good stewards of the environment. We are proud to introduce the Night Scan Powerlite 2.3; the first Powerlite that does not require a power generator.

We are proud to introduce the Night Scan Powerlite 2.3; the first Powerlite that does not require a power generator.

The Night Scan Powerlite 2.3 is the first of its kind available in a 12 volt power configuration. This system allows the light tower to be powered directly from the vehicle’s own power rather than an on-board generator. The Powerlite 2.3 provides the same benefit of 360° of light like every other Powerlite with its two banks of independently tilting lights – 50% of the light can be directed to the front and 50% of the light can be directed towards the rear. The 7.5 foot tall Powerlite has a small footprint and weighs only 141 pounds making it an ideal choice for smaller vehicles such as an SUV, van or even a sedan.
The Powerlite 2.3 standard light package is four Night Scan XL 160 LED light fixtures with industry leading 10 year limited warranty which have been optimized and tuned specifically for use with Night Scan light towers.
The Powerlite 2.3 standard light package is four Night Scan XL 160 LED light fixtures with industry leading 10 year limited warranty which have been optimized and tuned specifically for use with Night Scan light towers. The low power draw of only 125 watts per fixture generates high visual light output for excellent scene illumination while improving overall electrical system performance. The XL 160 has been field and lab tested for 3 years and is proven to provide safe and highly effective scene lighting in a certified rugged and waterproof enclosure. The photometric qualified performance delivers effective lumens (visual brightness) that are twice that of many comparable LED fixtures from LEDs generating 15,000 raw lumens for a total of 60,000. The optics of the light fixture have been optimized by combining spot and flood lenses to provide the best in overhead scene lighting.

“The creation of the Night Scan Powerlite 2.3 was driven by a desire to provide a “green” product that is true to our ISO 2004:14001 Environmental Management System certification,” said Jeffrey O. Evans, President, CEO and Chairman of The Will-Burt Company. “The launch of the Powerlite 2.3 supports the larger effort of the fire apparatus industry to reduce its carbon footprint.”
